D1 Sports & Athletics (D1SA) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. D1SA Football was established in 2017 and specializes in providing competitive and developmental football environments for youth in the Loudoun County area. All teams compete as Spartans.


  • D1SA provides football programs to our local community to generate an interest for the game of football by developing competitive athletes.
  • D1SA focuses on developing impact players by instilling ideals that promote self-confidence and leadership.
  •  Identifying and serving underprivileged youth in the County, D1SA provides scholarship programs for eligible athletes to participate in its programs.

Fall 2024 Coach Spotlight: 80-Pound American Head Coach -- Scott Diep

Last year, Scott's Ankle Biter team went 8-1 and beat Centreville in the Northern Virginia Youth Football League (NVYFL) Championship game. Scott was recognized as the 2023 Ankle Biter Coach of the Year at the NVYFL Hall of Fame awards ceremony. Coaches Spotlight

D1SA Football Management Team and Coaching Staff

D1SA Football is led by our League Commissioner, D.J. Smith. D.J. has been a part of the D1SA family for almost a decade and has coached multiple weight classes over the years. All of D1SA's football coaches are experienced, vetted, and screened. Our coaching staff has consisted of former NFL players, NCAA college players, and high school-level coaches. Several of our coaches have been previously named NVYFL (formerly FCYFL) Coach of the Year. D1SA's coaches work tirelessly both in and off season to ensure our players are exposed to the most competitive football environment possible in Loudoun County, VA.

D1SA Basketball is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that specializes in providing competitive and developmental basketball environments for youth in Loudoun County and surrounding areas. All teams, both boys and girls from 2nd through 12th grades compete as Spartans. Spartan national and regional teams participate at the AAU, AYBA, YBOA and USBA levels depending on each team's talent level and Spartan developmental teams play in local environments. D1SA also supports training, open gym, showcases with exciting exhibition games and special events. Emphasis is placed on making basketball a year-round activity and promoting participation for all levels of play.
